Learning Something New — Beth Chance
In the fall I took a course in "program level evaluation" from the University of Illinois, Chicago. It was a master’s level course, and I got to experience the fun of applying to the program. They wanted proof of my bachelor's degree, which of course was buried in moth balls, so I offered them proof of my doctorate. When that didn’t satisfy them(!), I managed to unbury my job application forms and find a copy of my undergraduate diploma. Once in, I enjoyed being a student again — a lot of reading and writing assignments and even test anxiety! I guess the moral is, keep copies of everything — you never know when you may need it.
On the personal front, we enjoyed watching our son flourish in kindergarten (reading, tying shoes, losing teeth, graduating past training wheels) and are slowly coming to terms with the fact that he will be a first grader in the fall. He even completed his first one mile race!
