Jay Devore
Jay Devore finished teaching his last classes at Cal Poly in March, 2012. But he has not divorced himself from statistical activities. The 2nd edition of Modern Mathematical Statistics with Applications, coauthored with Ken Berk, was published in January by Springer. His first book, Probability and Statistics for Engineering and the Sciences, is now in its 8th edition, and the publisher is already making plans for a new edition. And for the 4th year in a row, Professor Devore will teach a summer session course at Columbia University in New York City, where both his daughters and two grandsons live. He and his wife Carol took a very interesting tour of China last fall, and plan to travel to parts of Europe and the Middle East in September to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.
Professor Devore has continued to communicate with a few former Cal Poly students, and would welcome the opportunity to do likewise with anyone else who feels so inclined. Please email him at jdevore@calpoly.edu.
